Job summary

The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority seeks an Electronic Technician to perform electrical and electronic repair work required to maintain RTA vehicles and equipment in New Orleans.

Under close supervision, you will test circuits, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, install components, and maintain CAD/AVL and fare-collection gear, with safety as a priority. Applicants should have vocational training and relevant DC diagnostics experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and vocational training in electrical/electronic maintenance.
• 3–4 years’ experience reading electrical diagrams and diagnosing DC systems in transit vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Test electrical and electronic circuits using voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, and other diagnostic equipment.
• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and electronic systems and equipment.
• Install, remove, and replace electrical and electronic components on vehicles and facilities.
• Maintain and repair CAD/AVL systems and onboard camera equipment.
• Repair and maintain fare collection systems (electronic and mechanical components).
• Perform maintenance and repair of radio communication systems and related technology.
