Work Shift/Schedule: 7 days per week operation; shift work (United States of America)

Job Summary

Performs entry-level dispatching duties for the County’s Transportation Agency; operates a radio‑telephone communication system; receives and transmits messages; dispatches transit personnel, materials, and/or equipment in response to service requests or emergencies; performs clerical tasks related to transit operations and performs other related duties as required.

Responsibilities
  • Operates a radio‑telephone communication system to receive and transmit messages for public transportation and paratransit services
  • Dispatches transit personnel, materials, and equipment in response to service requests and emergencies
  • Monitors and logs the status and location of transit vehicles and personnel
  • Assists in coordinating the scheduling of trip reservations for public transportation and paratransit services
  • Prepares and maintains basic records and reports on transit operations
  • Answers inquiries from the public and provides information or refers to the appropriate authority
  • Assists in maintaining various files and records related to transit operations, such as vehicle and equipment logs, work orders, and time and leave records
  • Prepares routine letters and documents
  • Conducts periodic physical inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment
  • Performs other related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
  • A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school
  • Three and one half (3 ½) years of work experience which included one (1) or a combination of the following: public contact, customer service, clerical duties, radio telephone or telephone switchboard operation, or dispatching
