Job summary

Summit County Government (CO) / Summit Stage is seeking bus drivers for fixed-route and para-transit service, responsible for assigning routes and equipment to keep the system running smoothly. Requirements include a high school diploma with 3+ years in public transit, strong knowledge of Summit Stage operations, basic MS Office skills, and a professional, customer‑oriented approach.

Candidates must pass pre‑employment drug/alcohol tests and DOT medical certification, with a Class B CDL

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of the Summit Stage transit system.
• Able to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and DOT medical certification.
• Able to operate a transit bus safely and pass training program.

Responsibilities

• Direct fixed-route and para-transit bus operations to keep Summit Stage operational.
• Assign routes and equipment and ensure system remains operational at all times.
• Provide professional and friendly customer service.

Job description

Direct fixed-route and para-transit bus drivers, assign routes and equipment, and keep Summit Stage transit system operational at all times.

• High School diploma plus minimum three years’ experience in public transit.
• Have extensive knowledge of the Summit Stage transit system.
• General knowledge of transit vehicle maintenance issues.
• Some computer knowledge, including MS Office, is required.
• Professional and friendly customer service personality.
• Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and DOT medical certification as required by the US Department of Transportation.
• Must have the physical ability to safely operate a transit bus.
• Will be required to pass the Summit Stage Driver Training program.
• Must be able to work independently and be willing to work shifts that vary from day to night, weekdays and weekends.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:

• Must pass the Summit Stage driver training program.
• Class B CDL with passenger endorsement and no restrictions on air brakes required for duration of employment.
