Job summary

STV is seeking a Construction Engineer to join our Transportation & Infrastructure team in Washington, DC. You’ll help coordinate construction activities near WMATA property and support transit infrastructure projects across the DC metro area.

The role requires a strong mix of engineering design knowledge, construction management, and coordination with agencies, developers, contractors, and internal teams to keep work compliant and on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil, mechanical, electrical engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of construction field or management experience, transit or adjacent projects preferred.
• Experience reviewing construction documents, coordinating agreements, and delivery methods.
• Knowledge of means and methods, safety, and industry standards.
• Understanding rail/transit or fixed-facility construction is a plus.
• Strong client, agency, contractor, and team communication.

Responsibilities

• Research WMATA records to provide accurate as-built information for drawings and planning.
• Review plans, specifications, and reports to identify WMATA impacts.
• Coordinate with owners, developers, contractors, and WMATA requirements.
• Support design review meetings and track submittals through review process.
• Coordinate access needs, permits, and site work plan approvals.
• Participate in site visits, surveys, and progress meetings for coordination.
• Monitor projects, maintain records, and assist with funding requests.
• Visit sites to verify work aligns with plans and safety measures.
• Assist project closeout with as-builts, warranties, surveys, and reconciliations.
• Promote safety culture and safe work practices on assigned projects.
