Job summary

Utah Transit Authority (UTA) invites applications for the Community Engagement Events Intern role. You will support diverse community events, represent UTA in outreach efforts, and assist with volunteer recruitment and logistics while learning transit operations.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in college, have strong communication skills, and are fluent in English and Spanish. The internship runs ~6 months, 20–29 hours/week, with some evening and Saturday work, and potential extension.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 (transcript and two letters of recommendation required).
• Prior community outreach and event planning experience is desirable.
• Fluency in English and Spanish (or another language) preferred.
• Valid driver’s license preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and execute UTA participation in community events.
• Represent UTA at events; manage logistics, supplies, setup and takedown.
• Support recruitment of internal volunteers for events and outreach.
• Maintain inventory of event supplies and equipment.
• Listen to community members to identify transportation needs and share insights internally.
• Promote public transit and foster system stewardship through outreach and engagement.
• Communicate with Community Partners and external organizations.
• Participate in system navigation trainings to understand UTA operations.
• Manage multiple tasks including events, improvement projects, and daily duties.
