Job summary

Metro is seeking a qualified technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair communications and electronic equipment on buses and other vehicles in Los Angeles.

You will perform bench repairs, program test equipment, and maintain documentation while traveling to offsite locations as needed and adhering to safety policies. The role requires relevant education, FCC license, and a California driver license, with opportunities to contribute to system reliability.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a 2-year electronics trade school or college with related labs.
  • 3 years' field service experience with two-way radios or digital equipment.
  • FCC General Radio/Telephone Operators License required.
  • California Class C driver's license required.
  • Advanced courses in communications and digital electronics desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair communications and electronic equipment on buses and other Metro vehicles.
  • Perform bench repairs to circuit boards and to component level for radios, video, and fare-collection devices.
  • Program and operate test equipment to aid in troubleshooting and repair.
  • Maintain records of maintenance activity and contribute to reliability improvements.
  • Travel to offsite locations as needed and comply with safety programs.
