Job summary

Liberty University is seeking a part-time Transit Bus Operator to transport passengers on fixed routes and chartered trips, both on campus and off-site locations. You will perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, assist passengers with disabilities, and follow safety procedures while communicating schedules and delays.

This position requires a High School Diploma or GED, 1+ year of experience, and a Class B CDL with Passenger and Air Brakes endorsements.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; minimum 1+ year related experience.
Must have a Class B CDL with Passenger and Air Brakes endorsements.
Must meet hearing and vision requirements; have a passenger endorsement.
Able to lift up to 50+ pounds and operate buses in various conditions.
Must effectively communicate verbally and in writing with strong organizational and computer skills.

Responsibilities

Operate buses on fixed routes and chartered trips, transporting passengers safely.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and basic vehicle maintenance checks.
Assist passengers with disabilities to board and alight from the bus.
Follow safety procedures and state/federal transit regulations at all times.
Inform passengers of schedules, delays, and transfer points; handle stressful situations calmly.
Use personal or LU vehicles for travel in performing essential functions.
