Job summary

Liberty Lines Transit, Inc. is seeking Bus Operators who transport passengers safely along predetermined routes while maintaining professional customer service and adherence to all applicable traffic and transit regulations.

Candidates must hold a valid CDL class A or B with passenger and airbrake endorsements, have at least five years of driving experience, pass a DOT physical, complete the company Bus Operator Training Program, and be able to work varied hours including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• CDL Class A or B with passenger and airbrake endorsements and 19A compliance required.
• Must have 5 years of driving experience.
• Must pass DOT physical examination.
• Must safely operate a bus in all weather conditions.
• Must successfully complete the Bus Operator Training Program.
• Must be able to work varied hours including weekends, holidays and overtime.

Responsibilities

Job description

Bus Operators utilize safe driving techniques and defensive driving skills while transporting passengers to various locations, following a predetermined route. Providing professional customer service to the public, obeying local, state, and federal transit regulations as well as obeying all vehicle and traffic laws.

General Duties/Responsibilities:

• Responsible for transporting passengers safely following predetermined routes and detours.
• Ensure proper pick up and drop off passengers at designated bus stops.
• Adheres to all local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
• Responsible for the utilization of safe driving always to reduce and eliminate accidents.
• Responsible for informing the Company regarding on the road occurrences within a timely manner.
• Responsible for proper documentation of faulty equipment during the utilization of the assigned vehicle.

Position Qualifications:

• Required a minimum High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Must have and maintain an excellent Commercial Driver License class A or B with passenger and airbrake endorsements and 19A compliance.
• Must have 5 yearsof driving experience.
• Must be able to pass a DOTphysical examination.
• Must be able to safely operate a bus in all weather conditions, including snow, rain, sleet and wind.
• Must be able to successfully completethe Bus Operator Training Program.
• Must be able to work any scheduled hours such as split shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

• Ability to climb stairs, reaches above shoulder level, walk extended distance, stand, kneel, sit in a sedentary position for an undefined amount of time.
• Ability to safely secure a wheelchair.
• Ability to work in an environment with dust, fumes, exhaust, various noise levels, various temperatures, indoor and outdoor weather conditions for an undefined amount of time.
• Ability to comprehend, read, write, and converse in English.
• Ability to bend, lift, push and pull, up to 20 lbs. without assistance.
• Ability to travel 90% of scheduled time.
• Ability to use all bus operating equipment.
