Job summary

SMART in Detroit, MI is seeking a Manager of Transit Asset Management and Capital Planning to oversee the TAM system development, asset data coordination, and the agency’s capital planning and grant programs. You will work under the AVP of Planning & Compliance, coordinating across departments to drive data-driven recommendations and ensure compliance with national transit rules.

The role includes maintaining TAM plans, leading asset condition assessments, updating TIPs, and managing project

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business or related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in capital asset management or capital programming.
• Knowledge of FTA 5310, 5307 and 5339 grants and regulations; interaction with FTA/MDOT preferred.
• Grant development and writing experience preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
• Strong verbal, written, negotiating, analytical, problem solving and planning skills.
• Proficient in asset management systems and PC-based databases/spreadsheets.
• Experience with Trapeze EAM system preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with TAM system development and coordination across departments.
• Develop data-driven recommendations for the agency’s capital plan.
• Coordinate asset data and performance measures with NTD.
• Manage TAM implementation work plan and reporting.
• Support grant processes and subrecipient oversight.
• Update the TIP through MDOT and SEMCOG.
• Coordinate with related departments for asset and legal agreements.
