Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Transient Analysis Engineer II to perform design basis safety analyses for nuclear reactors in Cranberry Township, PA, with a hybrid work option. Responsibilities include developing models for two-phase flow/heat transfer, safety analysis for design basis accidents, and reload safety evaluations, working under the Manager of Transient Analysis.

Required qualifications include a B.S.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Chemical, Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience or equivalent.
• Experience performing accident/safety analysis in a nuclear engineering field.
• Ability to apply fundamental engineering principles.
• Develop and deliver technical presentations to communicate issues, status and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and assess models/correlations for two-phase flow and heat transfer.
• Perform reactor safety analyses and develop design-basis accident methodologies.
• Conduct reload safety evaluations for each plant cycle.
• Be cognizant of plant licensing basis and analyses of record.
• Serve as a point of contact for plant-specific non-LOCA or containment analysis inquiries.
• Evaluate impacts of plant modifications and operating changes on design analysis.

As a Transient Analysis Engineer II, you will perform design basis safety analysis for nuclear reactors. This analysis will include Non-LOCA analysis, Containment Integrity analysis, and Loss of Coolant Accidents/Improve Break Mass and Energy release analysis.

You will report to the Manager, Transient Analysis and be located at Cranberry, PA and can work in a hybrid capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and assessment of models and correlations for prediction two-phase flow and heat transfer phenomena
• Perform nuclear reactor safety analysis and development of analysis methodologies for design basis accidents
• Perform reload safety evaluations for each plant cycle
• Be cognizant of plant specific licensing basis, analyses of record
• Be a contact for plant-specific non-LOCA or containment analysis specific inquiries from both internal and external customers
• Evaluate impacts of plant modifications and operating changes on design analysis

Qualifications

• B. S. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Nuclear Engineering Required.
• Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience or equivalent
• Experienced in performing accident/safety analysis in a comparable nuclear engineering field
• Ability to apply fundamental engineering principles
• Develop and deliver technical presentations to communicate a variety of issues: project status, problem resolution and engineering recommendations.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $69,200 to 86,500 per year.
