Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Transfusion Service/Blood Bank Supervisor to lead the daily operations of a high‑complexity transfusion service within a large academic medical center.

The role provides technical oversight, regulatory compliance with CAP, AABB, FDA, and hospital standards, and support for advanced patient care including neonatal, stem cell, and transplant procedures. You will supervise staff and ensure safe testing and product modification in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in clinical lab science or related field; master's preferred.
• CLS license (CDPH) required.
• Current MT/MLS through ASCP or equivalent.
• At least five years of transfusion medicine lab experience.
• In-depth immunohematology knowledge and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of a high-complexity transfusion service.
• Ensure CAP, AABB, FDA and hospital regulatory compliance.
• Provide technical oversight for testing and blood product modification.
• Support advanced patient care including neonatal, stem cell, transplant procedures.
• Supervise staff and maintain quality and safety in testing.
