Job summary

Forgent in Waco, TX, is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead the mechanical design and drafting function for liquid-filled transformer products. You will own mechanical integrity, manufacturability, and continuous improvement across transformer designs while building a growing team of drafters and engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 6+ years of engineering experience in transformer design or related field.
• 3+ years of people leadership experience.
• Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and transformer design software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the mechanical engineering function to deliver high-quality, manufacturable transformer designs.
• Develop, mentor, and manage a team of engineers and drafters with clear priorities and growth plans.
• Drive engineering standards, processes, and continuous improvement across design activities.
• Partner with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Sourcing, and other functions to align engineering with production and cost targets.
• Lead problem-solving for design, manufacturing, and field performance issues with corrective actions.
• Support organizational growth by recruiting talent and fostering accountability and collaboration.
