Job summary

Virginia Transformer Corp. seeks a Head of Mechanical Design Engineering to lead and scale our mechanical engineering organization. The role focuses on establishing design excellence, standardization, and robust CAD practices across transformer platforms.

You will drive DFx initiatives, improve product reliability, and reduce rework while developing the next generation of mechanical engineers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Senior-level leadership in mechanical design for large electromechanical equipment.
• Proven experience reducing rework and improving manufacturability.
• Strong GD&T and tolerance-analysis expertise.

Responsibilities

• Lead and build the Mechanical Design Engineering organization.
• Establish engineering standards, governance, and best practices.
• Standardize design methods across transformer platforms.
• Oversee design reviews for manufacturability, serviceability, and cost.
• Mentor engineers and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
