Job summary

Southern Company seeks an Equipment Services Engineer to support transformer assets across the footprint, with a focus on generation facilities. You will collaborate with plant personnel, project managers, and vendors to enhance reliability, procurement, sparing, and issue resolution.

The role involves field and office work, travel ~25%, and leadership in transformer-related initiatives within the fleet.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and quality in transformer activities.
• Provide engineering support for transformer projects.
• Develop specifications for medium & large power transformers.
• Review vendor drawings and test reports for compliance.
• Witness factory inspections and acceptance testing.
• Support field and factory repairs with analysis and corrective actions.
• Lead condition-based maintenance and reliability actions.
• Conduct quarterly switchyard meetings on transformer issues.
