Job summary

The Jefferson County Board of Education seeks an Instructional Coach (School or Zone) to improve academic skills and literacy across content areas and grade levels through collaborative professional development, coaching of teachers, demonstration lessons, data analysis, and modeling of effective instruction.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree, a valid Alabama teaching certificate, Alabama Reading Initiative training, and at least three years of teaching experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Alabama teaching certificate.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ successful teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of current educational research and best instructional practices.
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons and professional development based on system and state courses of study.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the prescribed curriculum, intervention strategies, school improvement plans, and effective professional development delivery techniques.
  • Models appropriate and innovative use of technology for students and staff.
  • Uses data to inform instruction and plan professional development.
  • Coaches teachers and leads professional development activities.
  • Works collaboratively with teachers in curriculum development and instructional planning.

Education

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Valid Alabama teaching certificate
