Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking a high school teacher to deliver engaging instruction under moderate supervision, develop lesson plans aligned to state standards, supervise and evaluate students, and support a positive learning environment on school grounds. The position is full-time with a 10-month calendar; a Bachelor's degree and NC teaching certification are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required
• Valid NC Teaching certification or eligible
• Equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
• Create a culture of effectiveness by setting high standards and expectations for all students
• Plan and implement a program of study in the assigned content area
• Instruct students individually and in groups using various teaching methods
• Prepare for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request
• Diagnose learning challenges and maintain records for IEPs/504 plans
• Provide an instructional program to meet needs of all students including those with disabilities and LEP
• Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities
• Observe and assess students' performance, behavior, and needs regularly
• Meet with parents/guardians to discuss student progress and concerns
• Attend PLCs and professional development
