Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks a high school teacher to provide instruction under supervision, develop lesson plans, and monitor student progress on campus. You will lead classroom activities, assess students, and align instruction with district and state standards.

Collaboration with administration and staff is a key part of the role. The position requires a Bachelor's degree, NC teaching certification or eligibility, and 10-month term employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; NC teaching certification or eligibility.
• Experience planning lessons, assessing student progress, and adapting instruction.
• Familiarity with IEPs/504 Plans and NC standards.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Adhere to the NC Professional Teaching Standards.
• Assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
• Create a culture of effectiveness by setting high standards for all students.
• Plan and implement a program of study in the assigned content area meeting student needs.
• Instruct students individually and in groups using various teaching methods.
• Create a classroom environment enabling student engagement and achievement of objectives.
• Establish learning objectives based on NC standards and district curriculum.
• Prepare for classes and show written evidence of preparation on request.
• Diagnose learning challenges and maintain records for IEPs/504 Plans.
• Provide an instructional program for all students including those with disabilities and ELLs.
• Prepare materials and classrooms for activities.
• Encourage students to explore and persevere.
• Use techniques promoting critical and creative thinking.
• Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments.
• Assign and grade classwork and homework.
• Act as test administrator for NC tests and related guidelines.
• Observe and assess student performance, behavior, and development.
• Meet with parents/guardians to discuss progress and needs.
• Prepare enrichment and remediation programs.
• Attend PLCs and staff meetings for data analysis.
• Participate in professional development.
