Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Janesville, WI is seeking a Facility Operator to open/close the transfer station, schedule vehicle movements, and supervise site operations.

You will ensure safe, timely handling of loads and maintain clean, compliant public areas according to the daily and monthly schedules. This role requires a high school diploma or GED, plus ability to read and write simple correspondence and communicate effectively with customers and staff.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Open and close facility according to scheduled hours of operation.
• Oversee the schedule of where and which trucks are to dump and the switching out of trailers.
• Operate site equipment to ensure safe, timely and professional operation of the transfer station.
• Keep public areas clean per daily/weekly/monthly schedules.
• Ensure customers use the transfer station safely and follow rules.
• Oversee housekeeping and maintenance of the facility.
• Meet loading schedules to ensure driver loads are ready for production.
• Clear all trash from the floor daily.
• Direct incoming trucks to unloading areas safely.
• Report mechanical issues to shop foreman immediately.
• Complete daily reports and inspections as requested.
• Keep assigned units clean, wash interiors daily.
• Manage Transfer Station in absence of management.
• Attend safety and branch meetings.
• Comply with laws, policies and directives from supervisors.
