Job summary

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Transfer Truck Driver in Ashland, VA, offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career you can feel good about.

This local shuttle position runs Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, with pay at $21.00 per hour and home daily. You’ll work with a team supporting 800+ maintenance facilities, with strong safety and DOT compliance at the core of every shift.

Qualifications

• Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer.
• Minimum 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test, a background and motor vehicle check including drug/alcohol verification for the last 3 years, a DOT physical, and a Ryder road test.
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a commercial vehicle and comply with safety and DOT regulations.
• Perform duties that support shuttle movements between Ryder customer facilities.
• Maintain logs and records as required and support continuous safety training.

Pay & Schedule

• Driver Positions Pay Weekly
• Hourly Pay: $21.00 Per Hour
• Home Time: Local - Home Daily
• Schedule: Monday-Friday
• Start Time: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

All Drivers have 24/7 Roadside Maintenance by a Ryder Trained Technician plus Service Employees fuel up our trucks at all 800+ Maintenance Facilities.

Route & Freight

• Route: Shuttle Equipment between Ryder Customer Facilities
• Freight: No Touch - Empty Trailers for Equipment Shuttle Transfer Movement

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
• Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle:
  • 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR
  • 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR
  • 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures

Responsibilities

• This position is primarily responsible for safely driving a commercial vehicle and requires compliance with safety & DOT Regulations, continuous training and customer service
