ChristianaCare Health System is seeking an Overnight Transfer Center/Representative to manage urgent transfer requests, coordinate between the Transport Team and facilities, and communicate with physicians, bed coordinators, and dispatch centers. The role emphasizes critical thinking, clear communication, and EMS familiarity.

Ideal candidates will have EMT experience or active EMT certification, strong medical terminology knowledge, and experience with 911 radio systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficient computer skills including Word and Excel.
• Professional communication via phone, text and 911 radio systems.
• Preferred 3 years' experience providing patient care in an emergency setting (EMT or equivalent).
• EMT certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate acceptance, transfer, and transport of unplanned, emergent requests into and out of the healthcare system.
• Ensure safe and timely transfer with bed coordinators, admissions staff, physicians and hospital staff.
• Direct calls to referring and receiving physicians for acceptance and plan of care.
• Communicate ETA of transport unit to referring and receiving staff.
• Coordinate all transport/transfer requests while on duty.
• Provide patient care updates to relevant parties as needed.
• Obtain insurance and patient ID information and forward.
• Complete computerized intake form and data base entries.
• Log LifeNet transport emergency information.
• Coordinate ambulance and aircraft communications with crew.
• Monitor transport activities and travel times of air and ground units.
• Notify departments if safety concerns or delays arise.

We are seeking a Transfer Center Representative for our Pre-Hospital Services Team working on the communication team.The Transfer Center provides communication between the Transport Team and Healthcare Facilities.This position requires excellent communication skills and strong critical thinking ability.The ideal candidate will have experience in EMS dispatch and be an EMT on the National Registry.

Principle Job Duties:

• Coordinating the acceptance, transfer, and transport of primarily unplanned, unscheduled, emergent requests into and out of the healthcare system.
• Together with the bed coordinators, admissions personnel, physicians, and hospital staff, ensures the safe and timely transfer of patients.
• Directs phone calls to the appropriate referring and receiving physicians for acceptance and a plan of care in a timely fashion and professional manner.
• Communicates with air medical dispatch centers for the dispatching air medical resources for interfacility and scene responses.
• Dispatches the appropriate level of ambulance service needed to care for the patient.
• Communicates to referring, receiving physicians and nursing staff an ETA of the transport unit.
• Coordinates all transport/transfer request while on duty.
• Provides patient care updates to relevant parties when needed.
• Obtains insurance and patient identification information and forwards to the appropriate personnel.
• Completes computerized intake form and data base on all requests and completed transfers.
• Communicates with Center Dispatch and Public Safety the ETA of incoming transport aircraft.
• Logs campus emergency information that involves the use of LifeNet services for patient care and transport.
• Communicates in a clear and professional manner to all those requesting services.
• Coordinates ambulance and aircraft communications by contacting crew members via phone or text messages.
• Monitors transport activities, and travel times of aircraft and ambulance services.
• Notifies appropriate departments and personnel if there are safety concerns or issues with route of travel or communication delays.

Requirements:

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
• Computer skills to include Word, and Excel.
• Professional communication via phone, text and possible 911 radio systems.
• Preferred three years' experience providing patient care in an emergency setting (EMT or patient care technician or as a 911 dispatch/or call center operator.
• EMT Certification is preferred but not required.
• This may provide an opportunity to cross train with our Pre-Hospital Services team.

Hours:

Hours:This is for (6) twelve-hour shifts of 7p.m - 7:30 a.m.and (1) eight-hour shift of 11 p.m.- 7:30 a.m.per pay.

Hourly Pay Range:

Hourly Pay Range:$20.24 - $30.36 This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting.The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
