Renown Health in Reno, Nevada, seeks a Bed Control Specialist responsible for patient admissions and transfers. The role involves maintaining bed availability, effective communication with medical staff, and ensuring timely patient placement.
Ideal candidates have at least one year of clinical experience and strong problem-solving skills. This position does not provide direct patient care and demands multitasking and organizational abilities within a fast-paced hospital environment.
This position assumes accountability for appropriate placement for patient admissions and transfers by working in conjunction with the Transfer Center Nurse, Unit Staff, and Physicians. This position requires identification of bed availability, prioritization of admissions, intra‑hospital transfers based on patient needs, age, diagnosis and established unit criteria.
This position works closely with the Case Managers, Nursing Coordinators (NAM) and Nursing Departments. It acts as clerical support and is responsible for patient placement. It requires telephone and prioritization skills that build confidence and rapport with nursing staff and physicians.

Education—Must have working‑level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Knowledge of medical terminology.
Experience—Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in Acute, Long Term Care or Physician Practice.

Computer / Typing—Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job‑specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. Must have a working knowledge of basic computer programs and ability to toggle between multiple windows.
