Kessenick Gamma is a boutique law firm representing healthcare and technology clients, including several industry leaders. Our practice includes mergers and acquisitions, corporate formation and governance, regulatory compliance, employment matters, and commercial litigation.

We are a small, collegial group of attorneys who take pride in our work and deliver excellent results for our clients. We offer associates the opportunity to handle sophisticated matters and develop meaningful client relationships, while maintaining an achievable 1,450-hour annual billable requirement. Associates who bill above the requirement receive significant additional compensation under a transparent bonus structure.

The Position

We are seeking a transactional associate to join our San Francisco team. The ideal candidate will have experience practicing at a law firm and a strong interest in business organizations, mergers and acquisitions, and other significant transactions.

We serve as outside general counsel to many of our healthcare clients, including medical groups and other healthcare organizations. As a result, the transactional practice is broad and includes advising clients regarding acquisitions and other transactions, employment matters, corporate governance and organization, commercial agreements, and regulatory issues.

Prior healthcare experience is not required. The successful candidate will, however, be expected to develop expertise in healthcare law, including the federal Anti-Kickback Statute, physician self-referral laws such as the Stark Law, healthcare privacy, and other laws regulating the healthcare industry.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to obtain significant substantive experience, work directly with clients, and develop expertise in sophisticated transactional and regulatory matters.

Compensation

Kessenick Gamma features a transparent compensation structure designed to provide associates with an achievable billable-hours requirement while offering significant, uncapped additional compensation for associates who choose to bill more.

For associates with approximately two to six years of experience, base salaries generally range from $170,000 to $245,000, with a minimum annual billable-hours requirement of only 1,450 hours.

Associates who bill above 1,450 hours receive additional compensation under the firm's transparent bonus structure. Bonuses are calculated based on an established hourly rate for each billable hour above the minimum. At current compensation rates, total annual cash compensation for associates at the upper end of the salary range can exceed $300,000 at approximately 1,725 billable hours and $350,000 at approximately 1,925 billable hours. Bonus compensation is uncapped. Bonuses are calculated and paid twice each year.
