Job summary
The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a skilled engineer to provide astrodynamics and orbital mechanics expertise for a wide range of space systems. You will contribute to orbit design, optimization, and flight dynamics analyses while collaborating with internal and external partners to deliver robust, mission-ready solutions.
Responsibilities include developing software tools, evaluating mission concepts, and supporting nominal launch sequences.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in aeronautical/astronautical engineering, physics or applied mathematics, or related technical discipline (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months)
- 0-1 year of industry work experience
- Experience in space mission analysis and design, astrodynamics, optimization, and/or trajectory simulation
- Proficiency with Python, C/C++, Fortran, MATLAB
Responsibilities
- Support astrodynamics and orbital mechanics analysis including orbit propagation and constellation design
- Analyze optimization problems (Traveling Salesman, Facility Location, MDPs)
- Develop flight mechanics software and integrate with external tools
- Support analysis of launch and spacecraft deployment sequences
- Collaborate with engineering partners on integrated solutions
