Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation invites a Trajectory Optimization Graduate Intern to contribute to trajectory analysis for spacecraft, launch vehicles, and missiles. You will participate in conceptual design, pre-launch analysis, mission ops, and end-of-life phases, applying advanced astrodynamics techniques in a collaborative environment.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program with strong programming skills in C/Fortran/Python/MATLAB, GPA 3.0+, and readiness to obtain a security

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled full-time pursuing a Master’s or PhD in a relevant field.
• Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks.
• First year of graduate school completed by internship start date.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Graduate coursework in orbit mechanics, hypersonic flight simulation, trajectory modeling.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply advanced techniques for solving flight mechanics and astrodynamics problems.
• Perform trajectory simulation and optimization for spacecraft, launch vehicles, upper stages, missiles, and reentry vehicles.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team on ongoing research or technical programs.
• Apply standard techniques to prescribed scientific and engineering tasks.
• Work on full life-cycle projects from inception through launch.
• Training and mentorship will be provided.
