Job: Trajectory/Conceptual Design Engineer

About Us: X-Bow Systems is a cutting‑edge aerospace technology company focused on revolutionizing solid propellant propulsion systems for space exploration and defense applications. Our team of innovative engineers and scientists is committed to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in rocket propulsion.

About the Role: As a Trajectory/Conceptual Design Engineer, you will support business development and programs ranging from small tactical systems to orbital launch vehicles. You'll know you’re successful when you leverage creativity and technical expertise to design and characterize solutions quickly and accurately. You will join a small team empowered to define scope and aid in generating requirements that use industry‑standard and in‑house tools to design solid rocket motors, characterize aerodynamics, and analyze trajectories.

Minimum of 5 years directly related industry or academic experience, plus a fundamental understanding of physics and missile systems engineering principles.

Responsibilities
  • Trajectory Analysis: Develop and analyze tactical, ballistic, suborbital, and orbital launch vehicle trajectories for rail launch and thrust vector control (TVC) guided systems; perform dispersions and fault analysis to ensure robust system performance.
  • Trajectory Simulations: Conduct 3DoF and 6DoF trajectory simulations using tools such as POST2/POST3D and/or TAOS.
  • Weights & Sizing: Apply a multidisciplinary skill set to analyze launch vehicle performance, in‑space systems, landers, propulsion, aerodynamics, technology assessments, and value stream mapping.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5 years related industry experience.
  • Proficiency in trajectory simulation tools such as POST2/POST3D and/or TAOS.
  • Strong understanding of launch vehicle sizing, mass properties, and multidisciplinary systems analysis.
  • Working knowledge of solid motor ballistic analysis and associated toolsets.
  • Programming proficiency in C++, Python, Matlab/Octave, and Fortran.
  • Effective communication skills across stakeholder groups.
  • Experience with simulation, software testing, and HWIL testing.
What We Offer
  • The chance to work on groundbreaking projects in the aerospace industry.
  • A collaborative and inclusive work environment with flexible and remote options.
  • Opportunities for career growth and development.
