Job summary

Flex is seeking a Training Supervisor to join our Columbia, SC team. The role focuses on developing and delivering learning solutions and providing ongoing coaching to ensure employees have the skills to meet role requirements.

Reporting to the Training Manager, you will lead trainers, design curricula, choose instructional methods, evaluate outcomes, and partner with managers to implement training aligned with Flex's goals.

Reporting to the Training Manager, the Training Supervisor will develop and deliver learning solutions for employees and provide on‑going coaching and feedback to ensure employees have the necessary skills to meet the requirements of their position.

What a typical day looks like
  • Develop training and development procedures.
  • Encourage teamwork among trainers.
  • Ensure good relationship and communication with management team, ensure all training programs match the requirement of organization and work.
  • Participate in needs analysis studies to determine training needs within organization.
  • Confers with management to gain knowledge of specific work situations requiring employees to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations and technologies.
  • Formulate teaching outline and determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings and workshops.
  • Select or develop teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials and reference works.
  • Select or develop testing and evaluation procedures to be used at completion of training.
  • Supervise the training sessions provided by trainers covering specified areas such as new employee orientation, on‑the‑job training, use of computers and software, apprenticeship programs, customer service, sales techniques, health and safety practices, public relations, refresher training, promotional development, upgrading and leadership development.
  • Evaluate participants to measure progress and to ascertain effectiveness of training.
  • Report on progress of employees under guidance during training periods.
  • Revise design of training curriculum and methods to improve effectiveness.

  • Functional knowledge, education background or relevant working experience required.
  • Has experience coaching, training, mentoring or supervisory.
  • Demonstrates advanced experience and skills associated with performing assigned functions.
  • Demonstrates advanced/ thorough knowledge of the function and Flex business.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, financial reports, legal documents or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, associates, vendors and/or customers.
  • Must be able to communicate to all levels of the organization from production associates through executives.
  • Impacts the near‑term operational success of the function. Enhances and provides input to functional processes or technologies. Executes functional strategic plans and objectives at the site. Demonstrates commitment to implement initiatives.
  • Receives assignment in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet goals.
  • May use judgement based on practice/policy and precedence.
  • May work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
  • Impact on team/functional strategy. Exercises independent judgment within generally defined procedures and policies for selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Provides input for team decisions.
  • Impacts short to medium term projects and goals.
  • Receives general instruction on new assignments. Receives detailed instructions on large/critical projects. Models appropriate behavior in support of Flex values.
