Job summary

McGee Air Services is seeking a Training Specialist to lead world-class training for Ramp Service Agents and Lead Ramp Service Agents. You will conduct classroom and on-the-job training, modeling safety and performance standards while building an inclusive learning culture.

You will coach, assess readiness, and develop materials to ensure new hires meet operational requirements and McGee’s high standards in aviation services.

Job Description

The Training Specialist will foster and support an inclusive and high-performance training operation. This role conducts world class training for new Ramp Service Agents (RSA) and Lead Ramp Service Agents (LRSA). Training specialists build culture one learner at a time by facilitating classroom instruction and on the job training (OJT). Training specialists instruct, coach, and guide team members in developing the skills, knowledge, and aptitudes necessary to meet operational standards with a safety mindset. This role is pivotal in ensuring new hires understand the requirements of their role and can exhibit McGee Air Service’s values for high standards in aviation services. Training Specialists pride themselves in being a role model for their learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and promote a positive, welcome and inclusive world class training environment
  • Facilitate interactive training sessions in the classroom and on the ramp for on-the-job training (OJT)
  • Develop training content and training materials needed to support best in class training
  • Develop testing criterion to ensure trainees have adequate understanding of job and required responsibilities
  • Support the employee onboarding process to ensure all new hires have adequate materials and required paperwork complete prior to entrance into the operation.
  • Mentor and coach team members in the operation, making the job meaningful by explaining why procedures and policies are in place to raise the knowledge and awareness level of team members
  • Determine proficiency and readiness of new hires to work by themselves in the operation.
  • Identify the need for remedial/refresher training in the event that deficiencies are observed and develop tools to improve skills and behaviors
  • Ensure training record retention is maintained within compliance and alignment with McGee and customer expectations
  • Ensure completion of monthly training compliance and prepare required status updates and reports
  • Recognize opportunities to celebrate learner’s achievements. Provide positive feedback, as well as opportunities for improvement.
  • Support Safety, Compliance, and other initiatives and tasks as assigned, ranging from frontline work to miscellaneous station support functions
  • Schedule and prepare training location(s) and materials and ensure that students are provided with pre-work and location details in order to provide an excellent learning experience and environment
  • Exemplify McGee Air Services' values at all times and set a great example by demonstrating correct safety and operational procedures.
Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and classroom management skills with the ability to build relationships with trainees, peers, and leadership
  • Excellent communication skills, including direct, honest communication, active listening, and the ability to set clear expectations and hold others accountable in a respectful manner
  • Ability to tailor and adapt instruction to ensure learners' needs are met while achieving learning outcomes and maintaining a culture of safety at all times
  • Proven ability to provide specific and constructive feedback in a respectful manner, as well as give positive recognition
  • 2 years of airline experience with proven skills in station operations preferred
  • Knowledge of different learning styles and ability to adapt to meet the needs of wide variety of learners
  • Self-motivated, with proven ability to lead and direct the work of others
  • Innovative, proactive, and resourceful; committed to quality and continuous improvement while exhibiting good time management and strong organizational skills
  • Committed to fostering an inclusive work environment supportive of diversity
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on a frequent basis
  • Ability to understand and interpret flight schedules and airline flight destination information
  • Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance, customs seal, and/or USPS security clearance including background criminal history check, drug screen and fingerprinting required by specific work assignment
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record as required by location
  • Knowledge of operation of industrial equipment and previous experience preferred.
  • Must comfortably, frequently, continuously and within short timelines: lift, carry, and move heavy items; work in cramped or high places; climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop for extended periods of time; carry heavy items up and down stairs; push/pull loaded and empty carts; and stand for extended periods in all kinds of weather.
  • Ability to travel to other McGee locations to support as needed.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
