Job summary

Idaho Forest Group is seeking a Training Specialist to develop, deliver, and manage technical training for maintenance personnel at our mills. You will ensure teams have the skills to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain sawmill equipment, with a hands-on instructional approach.

The role requires 5+ years in industrial maintenance, a Journeyman Millwright certification or equivalent background, and strong knowledge of OSHA requirements.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Millwright Certification or maintenance background.
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of safety principles and OSHA requirements.
  • Available to train on all shifts including weekends.
  • Valid Driver’s License for business travel.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and implement training for all maintenance personnel.
  • Develop and implement a division approved Maintenance Training Program.
  • Train personnel on maintenance evaluation and root-cause analysis.
  • Assist in maintenance evaluations at facilities as requested.
  • Support OSHA requirements within the Training Program.
  • Collaborate on safety training updates with the Safety Specialist.
  • Maintain and administer the training management platform with current content, records, and reports.
  • Schedule and maintain vendor-provided training programs for timely delivery and compliance.
  • Support school and shop training programs as a subject-matter resource.
  • Other duties as needed.

Job description

The Training Specialist is responsible for developing, delivering, and managing technical training programs for maintenance personnel. This role ensures that maintenance teams have the knowledge and skills needed to effectively troubleshoot, repair, and maintain sawmill equipment and systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in industrial maintenance, training program development, and hands‑on technical instruction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepare and implement training for all maintenance personnel.
  • Develop and implement a division approved Maintenance Training Program.
  • Train personnel on maintenance evaluation and analysis to help determine root causes.
  • Assist in maintenance evaluations at specific division facilities as requested.
  • Support facility in upholding OSHA requirements within the Training Program.
  • Contribute to identifying safety issues within the program and collaborate with the Safety Specialist to roll out corresponding training updates.
  • Maintain and administer the training management platform, ensuring content, records and reporting remain current and accurate.
  • Schedule and maintain vendor‑provided training programs to ensure timely delivery and ongoing compliance.
  • Support school and shop training programs as a subject‑matter resource.
  • Other duties as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Journeyman Millwright Certification or a maintenance background.
  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of safety principles and OSHA requirements.
  • Available to train on all shifts when needed, including day shift, swing shift and weekends.

    • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse team to achieve a common goal.
    • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
  • Problem‑solving: Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities to address operational challenges creatively and effectively.
  • Organizational Skills: The ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Examples include time management, multitasking, and production targets .

  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test , post‑offer pre‑employment physical, and background check

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distance, and climb stairs.
