Training Specialist

Department: Training & Development

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: SMC

Description

FII USA, Inc. is seeking a Training Specialist to deliver standardized manufacturing training, develop qualified trainers, and ensure training programs are delivered consistently and effectively across production operations. Once a part of the team, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks within the Training and Development Department in a manufacturing environment and have the opportunity to display critical thinking skills to expand your career in Smart Manufacturing.

The Training Specialist will coordinate training launches, deliver initial and specialized training sessions, qualify and coach designated trainers, and conduct training audits to verify compliance with approved procedures, safety requirements, and established training standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate training launches, including pilot groups, trainer availability, shift coverage, facilities, equipment, materials, demonstrations, learner assignments, and completion timelines.

  • Review and maintain a thorough understanding of approved training materials, facilitator guides, assessment criteria, practical evaluation standards, and applicable controlled procedures.

  • Deliver pilot, initial-release, specialized, high-risk, remedial, and other assigned training sessions using approved materials and methods.

  • Develop and deliver train-the-trainer programs to prepare leads, supervisors, technicians, subject-matter experts, and designated trainers to teach approved content consistently.

  • Evaluate and qualify trainers through observation, teach-back sessions, knowledge assessments, practical demonstrations, facilitation evaluations, coaching assessments, and recordkeeping reviews.

  • Maintain trainer qualification records and supporting documentation, including restrictions, expiration dates, retraining requirements, requalification status, and recommendations for qualification removal when necessary.

  • Coach trainers on adult-learning principles, effective communication, demonstrations, questioning techniques, feedback, error correction, learner engagement, assessment integrity, and the use of controlled training materials.

  • Conduct classroom, demonstration, and on-the-job training audits using standardized criteria to evaluate content accuracy, training sequence, pacing, learner participation, safety, electrostatic discharge (ESD) compliance, quality requirements, assessments, and recordkeeping.

  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to trainers following observations and document corrective actions and follow-up reviews to verify sustained improvement.

  • Coordinate periodic trainer calibration sessions to ensure consistent instruction, demonstrations, evaluation methods, scoring criteria, and pass/fail requirements across departments and shifts.

  • Conduct or oversee practical-skill evaluations and ensure competency decisions are supported by accurate, complete, and objective evidence.

  • Support new-hire onboarding, process-change training, certification renewals, qualification recovery, targeted retraining, and corrective-action training.

  • Review training completion data, assessment results, practical evaluation outcomes, audit findings, quality trends, learner feedback, and recurring errors to measure training effectiveness.

  • Identify whether performance gaps are related to training delivery, instructional content, work instructions, manufacturing processes, systems, staffing, supervision, or individual performance and coordinate follow-up with the appropriate department.

  • Maintain accurate trainer matrices, qualification records, training observation reports, audit findings, coaching logs, remediation records, schedules, and corrective-action status updates.

  • Support customer, certification, quality-system, and internal audits by providing evidence of trainer qualifications, training oversight, competency verification, and corrective-action completion.

  • Provide training support across multiple shifts, including second shift, third shift, weekends, manufacturing launches, and audit activities as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Education, Training and Development, Operations, Manufacturing, Communications, Human Resources, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.

  • Three or more years of experience in manufacturing, operations, technical, quality, maintenance, or a related field preferred.

  • One or more years of experience as a trainer, team lead, supervisor, facilitator, training coordinator, or practical-skills evaluator preferred.

  • Experience supporting multiple shifts or a multilingual workforce preferred.

  • Train-the-trainer, facilitation, internal auditing, quality, safety, ESD, or related certifications preferred.

  • Strong classroom, small-group, and on-the-job training facilitation skills, including demonstrations, questioning, coaching, feedback, and learner-engagement techniques.

  • Working knowledge of adult-learning principles, train-the-trainer methods, practical-skill evaluations, remediation, and competency verification.

  • Ability to objectively observe training, document findings, identify performance gaps, provide constructive coaching, and verify corrective actions.

  • Ability to learn manufacturing processes, equipment operation, software procedures, quality requirements, safety controls, and ESD practices to evaluate training accuracy.

  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, organization, scheduling, and cross-shift coordination skills.

  • Ability to distinguish training deficiencies from process, documentation, system, supervision, staffing, or employee-performance issues and elevate findings appropriately.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to use a learning management system (LMS) to review assignments, rosters, completion records, qualifications, and training history.

  • Ability to work independently and build effective working relationships with operators, trainers, supervisors, engineers, Quality personnel, and management.

  • Experience with internal auditing, quality management systems, ISO-based requirements, ESD, safety, or regulated training programs preferred.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and occasionally bend, kneel, or reach while delivering and auditing hands-on training.
