Job description

Job Description

This role is responsible for the Operator Training Simulator development by simulating the nuclear plant systems and components, including instrument & control systems, within an integrated software and hardware environment. The position performs simulator model development, integration, testing, maintenance, and subcontract oversight.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate in planning, scheduling, and organization of detailed phases of engineering work.
  • Provide technical oversight and direction of internal or external design teams.
  • Assist in assessing customer needs and capturing requirements for electrical systems of nuclear generating stations.
  • Execute simulator assignments with clear objectives and utilize specification or Interface Control Documents and plans.
  • Recommend system design alterations and enhancements to improve quality of products and procedures across all lifecycle phases.
  • Lead reviews and presentations for internal and customer design reviews regarding simulator design.
  • Organize engineering efforts between specialty engineering groups, suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain plant simulation models and operator training simulator requirements.
  • Conduct verification and validation activities for the operator training simulator.
  • Write simulator technical and testing reports.
  • Review subcontractor technical reports and other deliverables.
  • Maintain simulator hardware and software, and maintain configuration control tools on GitLab.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior in all communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, nuclear, electrical engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
  • 20+ years of experience in operator training simulator development.
  • Proficient experience in thermal‑hydraulic simulation.
  • Excellent simulator software and hardware debugging capability.
  • Extensive knowledge of nuclear power plant operations.
  • Familiarity with distributed control systems.
Location & Schedule

Location: 5303 Spectrum Dr, Frederick, MD

Work Schedule: 4 days a week in office, 8:00am–5:00pm, Monday–Friday. Travel up to 5% as needed.

Compensation

Salary range: $124,500 – $207,500 (base salary only; benefits and additional compensation not included).
