Job summary

The Thornton Police Department is seeking a Colorado POST-certified police officer for a full-time Training Officer position in the Training Unit of the Administration Division. The officer will assist with development, coordination, and delivery of Department training, including in-service and POST-approved academy training.

This non-supervisory role emphasizes instructional and organizational skills, with a five-year rotating assignment.

Qualifications

• Currently certified as a Colorado Peace Officer through Colorado POST.
• Interest in training with strong instructional and organizational skills.
• Colorado POST instructor certifications preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development, coordination, and delivery of Department training.
• Coordinate in-service and POST-approved academy training.
• Serve in the Training Unit within the Administration Division.
• Perform non-supervisory police duties within the unit.
• Adhere to established Department seniority practices during rotation.
