Job summary

Hyatt is seeking a Training Manager at Carmel Valley Ranch to design, implement, and oversee training programs for Food & Beverage and Front Office teams. You will equip staff with the knowledge and service standards to deliver exceptional guest experiences while ensuring operational excellence.

The ideal candidate brings hospitality training and leadership experience, with flexibility to support weekends, holidays and evening shifts in a dynamic resort environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of hospitality training experience or equivalent leadership/operational training roles.
  • Strong knowledge of hospitality operations, guest service standards, and employee development practices.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to facilitate training for employees at various experience levels.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Experience with training records, certifications, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Design onboarding and orientation programs for new hires.
  • Develop and deliver Front Office and Food & Beverage training.
  • Create training materials, SOPs, and learning resources.
  • Conduct refresher training to maintain service excellence and consistency.
  • Monitor progress, provide coaching and performance support.
  • Support compliance with policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

The Training Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing training programs for Food & Beverage and Front Office team members. This role ensures employees are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and service standards necessary to deliver exceptional guest experiences while maintaining operational excellence.

The ideal candidate is a passionate hospitality professional with demonstrated experience in training, coaching, and developing employees within hotel, resort, restaurant, or hospitality environments. This position requires flexibility to support operational needs, including weekends, holidays, and occasional evening shifts.

Training & Development
  • Design, coordinate, and facilitate onboarding and orientation programs for new hires.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for Front Office and Food & Beverage employees.
  • Create training materials, job aids, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and learning resources.
  • Conduct regular refresher training sessions to maintain service excellence and operational consistency.
  • Monitor employee progress and provide coaching, mentoring, and performance support.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, observations, and performance metrics.
Food & Beverage Training
  • Train employees on service standards, food safety, sanitation practices, guest engagement, and product knowledge.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable food handling and alcohol service regulations.
  • Support managers with departmental training plans and cross-training initiatives.
  • Promote consistency in service delivery and guest satisfaction standards.
Front Office Training
  • Train team members on guest service standards, reservations systems, check-in/check-out procedures, and problem-resolution techniques.
  • Coach employees on communication skills, guest recovery, and hospitality best practices.
  • Ensure proper understanding of company policies, procedures, and operational expectations.
Leadership & Compliance
  • Partner with department leaders to identify training needs and skill gaps.
  • Maintain accurate training records and ensure completion of required certifications.
  • Support compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in developing leadership programs and career development pathways.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, engagement, and professional growth.

    • Minimum of 3 years of hospitality training experience, or a combination of training, supervisory, and operational leadership experience within Food & Beverage and/or Front Office departments.

    • Previous experience as a Training Manager, Learning & Development Manager, Operations Manager, Front Office Manager, or Food & Beverage Manager.
    • Experience within hotels, resorts, casinos, clubs, or other hospitality environments.
    • Certified Trainer, Hospitality Trainer, or related professional certifications.
    • Bilingual abilities are a plus.
    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
    • Ability to conduct training sessions in operational environments.
    • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
    • Must be available to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
    • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings is required.
