CPLL is seeking a creative and engaged Learning Designer to join our dedicated team of professionals. The Learning Experience Team focuses on the development of learner-centric and high-impact customized learning solutions designed for multiple delivery formats, tech-enabled learning environments, and tailored to specific organizational or departmental needs. The Technology Training Coordinator will be responsible for:
  • Deliver training on business tools such as the entire MS365 Technology Applications ecosystem, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Planner, Lists, Power BI, and Copilot, to support day‑to‑day work and data use.
  • Translate technical systems and processes into clear, step‑by‑step training for end users.
  • Develop practical training materials (e.g., job aids, quick reference guides) that reflect real workflows.
  • Partner with system owners and subject matter experts to stay current on system updates and training needs.
  • Experience training others on software, systems, or technical processes.
  • Ability to simplify technical concepts for non‑technical audiences.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies, systems, and applications to create and facilitate interactive, hands‑on technical training both in‑person and online to adult learners.
  • Ability to translate complex steps and processes into easily understandable learning concepts and simplified learner usability for all learning styles and formats.
  • Understanding of creating accessibility in learning design and technology.
  • Partnering with stakeholders, subject matter experts (SMEs), graphic designers, and trainers on learner needs analysis, learning objectives, instructional strategies, delivery, measurable outcomes, and evaluation of learning solutions.
  • Meeting individual performance metrics and goals while modeling behavior‑based competencies.
  • Collaborating with CPLL team members in the pursuit of the overall mission and continuously exploring new, innovative trends to improve the City’s learning ecosystem.
Working Conditions

Standing while facilitating in‑person training sessions. There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature, and air conditions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Educational Requirements: Requires a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, Personnel Management, or a related field.

Experience Requirements: Four years of professional personnel experience involving training in a formal classroom and/or the development of curriculum and lesson plans for adult learners are required. Pertinent training experience at the professional level may be substituted for the above educational requirement on a year‑for‑year basis.

License: None.

PREFERENCES

Highly desired candidates will have:

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and experience training users across productivity, collaboration, data, and AI‑enabled tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Planner, Lists, Power BI, and Copilot.
  • Microsoft certifications or other recognized credentials related to Microsoft 365, data analytics, instructional design, or learning technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical systems, processes, and workflows into clear learning experiences and practical performance‑support resources for non‑technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn emerging technologies and translate new functionality into practical workplace training.
  • Experience partnering with subject matter experts, system owners, and stakeholders to conduct learner or performance needs analyses and develop customized learning solutions with measurable objectives.
  • Experience measuring learning effectiveness and using learner feedback, performance data, or other measures to continuously improve learning solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience using learning management systems and other learning technologies, with knowledge of accessibility and inclusive‑design principles for technology‑enabled learning.
  • Experience teaching or supporting data analytics, data literacy, and data‑based decision‑making skills.

Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors are in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
