Position SummaryThe Training Coordinator plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates workforce development, community education, and technical assistance activities under WestCare Washington's SAMHSA Adult Suicide Prevention Grant in King and Pierce Counties. The position leads a comprehensive training strategy focused on evidence-based suicide prevention, lethal means safety, suicide warning signs, intervention, referral, and postvention.Working with the Program Director, clinical partners, community organizations, healthcare providers, and grant staff, the Training Coordinator ensures required training is delivered on schedule and supports the approved project goals. The coordinator provides nonclinical education within established competencies and coordinates specialized clinical training through appropriately qualified instructors.Essential Job FunctionsCoordinate the training strategy and support development and implementation of the project strategic plan with the Program Director, Task Force, and Project Evaluator; identify training needs, priorities, and implementation milestones.Develop training schedules, learning objectives, and materials for intended audiences. Adapt delivery methods and approved materials while maintaining curriculum requirements and fidelity.Deliver approved community education and training within established competencies and applicable instructor requirements.Coordinate qualified facilitators, registration, training locations, materials, accessibility needs, and participant communications for required grant curricula, including CALM, ASIST, and CAMS.Attend staff meetings, required training, and in-service activities as assigned by the Program Director or required by WestCare.Attend staff meetings, required training, and in-service activities as assigned by the Program Director or required by WestCare.Lead partner onboarding and provide education on suicide warning signs, compassionate communication, lethal means safety, 988 and crisis pathways, and approved referral procedures.Develop and deliver brief orientation sessions for business owners and staff, and create practical referral tools and warm-handoff scripts that explain approved steps, consent, and follow-up responsibilities.Prepare concise and timely reports on training delivery, participation, learning outcomes, implementation progress, and barriers requiring the Program Director's attention.Maintain accurate training records, attendance rosters, and required documentation; verify information before entering it into approved reporting systems and follow confidentiality requirements.Work with the Outreach Coordinator / Research Assistant and Project Evaluator to collect pre- and post-training assessments, participant feedback, and required SAMHSA performance measures, including SUPRT-P.Use training results and participant feedback to improve delivery, address participation barriers, and support continuous quality improvement with the Project Evaluator.Teach approved referral pathways addressing social connection, housing, employment, economic stability, and access to behavioral health resources.Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation.Perform other duties assigned by the Program Director that align with the approved project and position responsibilities.EducationBachelor's degree in Public Health, Behavioral Health, Social Work, Education, Psychology, Human Services, or related field required.Master's degree preferred.Minimum of three years of relevant experience in training coordination, adult education, staff development, workforce development, behavioral health education, public health initiatives, or educational program coordination. Qualifying experience may be gained within veteran services, student support, or community programs when duties include planning, coordinating, delivering, or evaluating structured training or education. A formal Training Coordinator title is not required.Experience with suicide prevention programming preferred.Essential QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Certifications and LicensesValid driver's license is required.Experience and CompetenciesStrong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated experience developing and delivering adult learning programs and facilitating group meetings. This experience may include staff training, college instruction, workshops, or community education delivered within broader program roles.Demonstrated ability to organize training activities, coordinate presenters and participants, manage schedules and materials, and assess learning or program results.Knowledge of suicide prevention principles, behavioral health, and evidence-based training methods, with the ability to apply trauma-informed engagement and teach approved resource and referral procedures. Relevant knowledge may be demonstrated through education, training, or work in veteran services, student support, behavioral health, or community programs. Must complete required suicide prevention and position-specific training.Ability to effectively network with community partners.Proficiency in word processing programs, preferably MS Word, and spreadsheet programs, preferably MS Excel. Internet skills.Ability to work independently.High level of initiative.Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially to standards governing confidentiality.Professional appearance and demeanor.Bilingual (fluent in English and Spanish) preferred.Valid driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCare's vehicle insurance are required.Must be able to obtain and maintain OIG and NSOPW clearance.During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with.
