Job summary

Blank Street in Los Angeles is seeking a Training Associate to elevate barista and shift lead training, from onboarding to accreditation. You will train in-store and in the lab, coach teams, and partner with Operations to build confident, capable staff delivering exceptional coffee and hospitality.

You will lead orientations, seasonal trainings, store openings, and ongoing education while driving learning across the LA market.

Qualifications

• 2+ years barista and training experience
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly between stores across LA
• Master of time management and prioritization
• Expert in milk steaming with precise textures for lattes, flat whites, and cappuccinos
• Consistently pours clean hearts, tulips, and rosettas with intentional technique
• This is a full time role (50 hours per week, 5 days a week) and requires flexibility to work outside of store operating hours, including weekends

Responsibilities

• Oversee, validate, and track each barista's journey through the new hire training program, and work with ops partners to ensure a positive experience for all.
• Support the new hire training program by assisting with in-store training, leading large group trainings at the lab, and facilitate final bar assessments.
• Provide area training support as needed by conducting shift lead training certifications, assisting with new product launches and other key initiatives.
• Drive stores toward higher product quality standards by conducting quarterly assessments for all DC and Philadelphia stores and develop actionable reporting.
• Possess in-depth knowledge of all products and recipes to maintain recipe & quality adherence in the market.
• Develop cross functional relationships to build reporting tools and provide store performance insights.
• Foster a learning culture at Blank Street, keeping teams motivated and excited to learn.
• Be an inspirational leader with coffee knowledge and passion, tailoring training approaches to individuals.

We're looking for a Training Associate to help take Blank Street's barista and shift lead training to the next level. In this role, you'll support new team members from onboarding through accreditation, coaching them in-store and partnering closely with Operations to build confident, capable teams that deliver exceptional coffee, matcha, and hospitality.

You'll help drive training results by identifying opportunities for improvement, creating action plans with Operations, and sharing feedback from the field to strengthen our training programs, processes, and standards.

You'll also lead new hire orientations, seasonal drink trainings, new store opening trainings, coffee and matcha education, and team events like Latte Art Throw Downs in the LA market. As Blank Street grows, you'll have the opportunity to take on new projects and help shape the future of training.

What You'll Own

Be an inspirational leader full of coffee knowledge and passion for the craft, knowing how to tailor training approaches to individuals to ignite passion and the desire to pour love into every cup of coffee made.

Support the creation and implementation of cross functional projects that ensure a 5 star barista experience.

Support the training and development of future Training Coordinators on your team.

Benefits & Perks

$75,000 - $85,000 annual base salary

Our salaries are rooted in the desire to pay competitively relative to our organization size and industry, reflecting just one part of the total compensation package.
