Job summary

UPS Industrial Services, LLC. is seeking a Training Assistant to support the design, development, delivery, and administrative management of training programs that strengthen workforce competency, safety culture, and operational readiness.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a related field is required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in training support or related role preferred.
  • Experience in regulated industrial environments is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards or safety training concepts is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; LMS experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Training Content Developer in preparing, formatting, and updating training materials, including presentations, job aids, toolbox talks, SOPs, and handouts.
  • Support the creation and organization of training content for site orientations, safety modules, equipment instruction, and craft-specific programs.
  • Coordinate training logistics, including scheduling sessions, reserving rooms or virtual platforms, preparing materials, and tracking attendance.
  • Maintain accurate training records in the Learning Management System (LMS) or designated tracking tools to support compliance, audits, and client requirements.
  • Assist with administering knowledge checks, skills assessments, and collecting feedback to support evaluation of training effectiveness.
  • Help prepare and distribute meeting packets, job aids, and training videos under the guidance of the Training Content Developer.
  • Support onboarding activities for craft workers, operators, and supervisory personnel by preparing materials and assisting with session setup.
  • Collaborate with field leadership, safety teams, and SMEs to gather input, confirm content accuracy, and support practical training delivery.
  • Help ensure training materials and records align with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and 1910 standards, internal policies, and project-specific requirements.
  • Assist in organizing and supporting classroom, hands-on field, and digital learning sessions.
  • Track and report basic training metrics and feedback to the Training Content Developer for continuous improvement.
  • Stay current on company policies, basic regulatory requirements, and training processes relevant to the role.
  • Provide administrative and coordination support for safety meetings, training audits, and related organizational development activities as assigned.

UPS Industrial Services is seeking a Training Assistant to join our safety conscious team! The Training Assistantsupports the design, development, delivery, and administrative management of training programs that strengthen workforce competency, safety culture, and operational readiness. Working under the direction of the Training Content Developer, this role assists with content preparation, training logistics, recordkeeping, material production, and coordination with field teams and subject matter experts. Essential Job Functions:
  • Must be able to utilize a phone and computer, requiring sufficient digital manipulation skills to utilize a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and numerous tools.
  • Must be willing to comply with UPSIS Safety Policy and/or any related OSHA/ANSI standard regarding proper wearing of PPE, safe work practices, etc.
  • Must be able to comply with UPSIS Respirator and Confined Spaces policies.
  • Must be willing to work in confined spaces where movement may be restricted.
  • Must be able to select proper equipment for any given job, with knowledge of Safe and Proper Equipment setup.
  • Must be willing to work for extended hours and willing to work over their scheduled shift, if required.
  • Must be able to work day or night shift.
  • Must be able to drive and operate a vehicle.
  • Must be physically mobile and able to navigate construction, manufacturing, and office environments.
  • Able to read, write, understand, and speak the English language fluently.
  • Ability to maintain a clear, understandable voice, communicating vital business information to internal/external contacts.
Education and Experience:
  • Associate’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Training Content & Instruction, Organizational Development, Training & Development, or a related field (required).
  • 1-3 years of experience in training support, instructional coordination, administrative support in a training/HR/safety function, or related role preferred.
  • Experience in a regulated, industrial, construction, or manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards, safety training concepts, or compliance training is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) required; experience with LMS platforms or e-learning tools preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively with field personnel, SMEs, and office teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to job sites to support training activities as needed.
  • This position is in an office environment with travel to the field, requiring travel to, though, and in the field construction sites in outdoor ambient conditions, including extreme weather, uneven surfaces, heights, and locations where chemicals and flammable material are being used, processed, and treated.
  • Travel may be required for up to 25% of the time, depending on business needs.
  • Work environments include office settings, field locations, and manufacturing, chemical, or refining facilities, which may involve exposure to loud noise, hazardous substances, temperature extremes, and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and manipulate objects weighing at least 45 pounds consistently.
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and safely navigate stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and uneven surfaces.
  • Must have clear and accurate vision and hearing to perform tasks and communicate effectively safely.
  • Must possess sufficient physical dexterity to bend, stoop, reach, and handle tools, materials, and equipment regularly.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods as required by the task or work environment.
