Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, adult learning, human resource development, instructional design, or a related field.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in adult education.
• Experience delivering professional development, corporate training, or classroom instruction (preferably within an adult education or postsecondary setting).
• Proficient with modern instructional technologies, learning management systems (LMS), and virtual presentation software.
• Ability to travel extensively throughout Alabama to deliver training and on-site technical coaching.
• Ability to operate standard presentation and office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and facilitate statewide professional development sessions, instructional webinars, and specialized workshops for adult education instructors.
• Establish statewide communities of practice and professional learning networks for sharing best practices and resources.
• Conduct on-site and virtual technical assistance visits to assist with coaching and program implementation.
• Develop, curate, and distribute instructional resources, manuals, and teaching guides supporting evidence-based practices.
• Assist in planning, logistics, and content for statewide adult education professional development conferences.
• Develop and implement processes to assess effectiveness of PD activities via feedback and outcomes.
• Conduct periodic evaluations to identify training needs and knowledge gaps.
• Provide ongoing instructional coaching and mentoring to local staff with feedback and planning support.
• Coordinate statewide implementation support for new instructional initiatives and program models.

Job description

The Training and Technical Assistance Coordinator is responsible for executing the statewide professional development calendar and providing targeted operational support to local adult education instructional staff. Reporting to the branch director, this role designs, coordinates, and delivers training curriculum, workshops, webinars, and professional conferences. The Coordinator works directly with local programs to promote evidence-based instructional practices, digital literacy integration, and continuous improvement frameworks to ensure equitable, high-quality instruction across the state. Working as a collaborative team member alongside other specialists, this role supports the administration of HSDO, Integrated Education and Training (IET), and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs.

1. Plans, designs, and facilitate statewide professional development sessions, instructional webinars, and specialized workshops for adult education instructors.
2. Establishes and facilitates statewide communities of practice and professional learning networks that enable adult education practitioners to share effective practices, resources, challenges, and solutions across local programs.
3. Conducts on-site and virtual technical assistance visits to local providers to assist with instructional coaching and program implementation challenges.
4. Develops, curates, and distributes instructional resources, training manuals, and teaching guides that support the implementation of evidence-based practices.
5. Assists in the planning, logistics, and content selection for statewide adult education professional development conferences.
6. Develops and implements processes to assess the effectiveness of professional development activities, including participant feedback, knowledge and skill gains, implementation of training content, and resulting improvements in instructional practice.
7. Conducts periodic evaluations and surveys of local program staff to identify emerging training needs and instructional knowledge gaps.
8. Provides ongoing instructional coaching and mentoring to local adult education staff, including classroom observation, feedback, lesson planning support, and implementation of evidence-based instructional strategies.
9. Coordinates statewide implementation support for new adult education instructional initiatives, curricula, technologies, assessment practices, and program models, ensuring local programs receive appropriate training, resources, and technical assistance.

REQUIRED
