Job summary

Duke Energy seeks an Associate System Operator to begin the System Operator qualification path. This trainee role operates with limited supervision to develop credentials in the SOQP and to monitor the bulk electric system, ensuring reliability while working toward NERC certification.

Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree or 2 to 4 years relevant work experience
• NERC System Operator Certification is preferred
• Regional/local operator certification or job task verification is desirable

Responsibilities

• Obtains job task verification by continually improving job-related, technical and professional knowledge with limited direct supervision.
• Prepares for and passes the NERC system operator certification examination and obtains required job task verification.
• Completes training requirements including ERO standards and regional/local operator certification (e.g., PJM).
