Job summary

Baltimore City Public Schools is seeking a temporary trainee Bus Driver to operate school buses transporting students and staff to/from school, field trips, and events. As trainees succeed, they are eligible for hire as a Regular full-time Bus Driver.

Responsibilities include following schedules, maintaining discipline, performing vehicle inspections, coordinating with principals, and submitting reports. The role requires safety awareness and ability to work with diverse school communities.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid commercial Class C Maryland driver's license.
• Meets qualifications for school vehicle drivers per COMAR requirements.
• Pass annual physical and random CDL drug tests.
• Ability to read and write.
• Good communication and human relations.

Responsibilities

• Operate school buses to transport students and staff to/from school, field trips, and events.
• Follow established schedules and safety rules for all riders.
• Maintain student discipline on the bus and coordinate with principals.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections; report any mechanical issues.
• Submit required reports and keep records of bus operations.
