Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad is hiring for a Train Crew role. Training is provided; you will initially earn around $80,000 annually as you learn to safely move freight by rail. Advancement may lead to engine service and higher earnings.

Medical, vision, dental, life and disability insurance are offered, with lodging provided on some assignments, as needed. The position is seniority-based, requires travel with trains, and involves on-call, variable hours in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Must have a clean driving record in the past 36 months
• Must not have a drug or alcohol-related driving incident
• Must successfully complete an English assessment

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and timely movement of customers’ freight.
• Inspect equipment, locomotives and rail cars for safe operation.
• Perform tasks such as coupling equipment, aligning drawbars, operating remote control locomotives, and communicating with crews.
• Report and document activities and observations as required.
