Job summary

Rush Truck Centers is seeking a Trailer Technician in Illinois to repair or replace damaged parts per factory specs and to maintain high-quality workmanship. You will handle aluminum and steel welding (MIG) and basic fabrication, diagnose simple electrical systems, review repair orders, and ensure all work is documented and completed safely.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 2 years related experience, and DOT inspection certification or equivalent.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; DOT inspection certification preferred or 1 year experience.
• Aluminum and steel welding (MIG/TIG) certification or demonstrated comparable experience.
• DOT inspections and knowledge of ABS and air brake systems are essential.
• Proficiency with repair documentation and related hardware/software as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain welding proficiency and meet productivity targets.
• Perform aluminum/steel welding (MIG) and basic fabrication tasks.
• Diagnose 12-volt electrical light systems and review repair orders before work.
• Complete repairs per documents; document work timely; and communicate with customers.
• Follow safety rules and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
