Job summary

Universal Truck Service is hiring a Trailer Technician on 2nd shift in New Brighton, MN. This role offers a 4/10 schedule with evenings, clocking in at 1pm and finishing around 11:30pm, plus a $2/hr shift differential and a $3,000 sign-on bonus.

The work spans brakes, suspension, electrical, body work, and safety inspections to keep fleets moving safely. Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of trailer mechanic experience, own hand tools, and are proficient in Excel, Word, and fleet management

Qualifications

• 2+ years of trailer mechanic or technician experience.
• Valid driver's license (Class C).
• Own hand tools and toolbox.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, fleet management systems, and email.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on trailers, dollies, and switchers.
• Service anti-lock brakes, wheel end components, electric brakes, disc brakes, and ABS systems.
• Repair swing doors, roll‑up doors, and lift gates.
• Perform body, roof, frame, and flooring repairs or replacements.
• Service air ride and spring suspensions, pneumatic systems, and electrical wiring.
• Conduct safety inspections and prepare required safety documentation.
• Prepare and maintain vehicle records both manually and in fleet management systems.

A Day in the Life

As a 2nd Shift Trailer Technician at Universal Truck Service, you will clock in at 1pm and work a 4/10 schedule Monday through Thursday. Your shift covers the full range of trailer maintenance and repair - from brake and suspension systems to electrical, body and roof work, and safety inspections. The 2nd shift at Universal Truck Service is a team that holds itself to a high standard and takes pride in keeping fleets moving safely and efficiently.

What You'll Do

Schedule

2nd Shift - 4/10 schedule (Monday through Thursday, 1pm-11:30pm). $2/hr shift differential included.

What You Bring

• 2+ years of trailer mechanic or technician experience
• Valid driver's license (Class C)
• Own hand tools and toolbox
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, fleet management systems, and email
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to lift 40+ lbs; comfortable with frequent bending, kneeling, and crawling
