Job summary

FleetPride, the largest after-market distributor of heavy-duty truck and trailer parts in the U.S., seeks a Trailer Technician II to perform preventive maintenance and diagnostic repairs on Class 7 and 8 trailers with minimal supervision.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 3+ years of trailer repair, welding/fabrication skills, and own hand tools. Benefits include weekly pay, bonuses, full benefits from day one, vacation, holidays, PPE, and ongoing training.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; welding certificate is a plus.
  • At least 3+ years fixing Class 7 & 8 trailers; welding/fabrication experience.
  • Must provide hand tools and operate safely with PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Examine trailers to determine damage or malfunctions.
  • Diagnose, repair, rebuild trailer components and systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections.
  • Repair, adjust brakes, suspensions, and weld as needed.

Additionally, will perform basic diagnostic operations in order to successfully diagnose trailer system failures and suggest accurate system repairs.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESExamine trailers to determine extent of damage or malfunction(s).Diagnoses, repairs, builds and rebuilds all parts of trailer equipmentProvide customers with preventative maintenance solution, whenever appropriate.Maintain 80% productivityPrevent comebacksPerform inspections and preventative maintenance of trailers and equipment.Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as lubrications and component replacements.Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric and brake accessories).Test components using proper equipment to ensure proper operations.Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems including leaf and coil spring systems, and Hendrickson walking beam type suspension systems.Perform basic aluminum and steel wire welding.File, grind, sand and smooth filled or repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.Maintain a clean and organized workspace.Other duties assigned.EDUCATION & TRAININGHigh school diploma or GEDVocational and/or Welding certificate/degree is a plus, but not required.KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE3 + years of experience with repairing class 7 & 8 trailersCarpentry fabrication and weldingSKILLS & ABILITIESMust provide hand tools, air tools, and toolbox.Maintain perfect safety recordAbility to lift 50lbs.WORKING CONDITIONSWORK ENVIRONMENT Exposure to Inside/Outside Conditions, Extreme Temperatures (average of 100 Degrees F), Humid Conditions, Chemical Hazards, Vibration, Equipment Noise, Work in enclosed and confined spaces.FleetPride is the leader in the industry comprised of retail, service, distribution and wholesale divisions.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
