Job summary

FleetPride, the nation’s largest distributor of heavy-duty parts and service, seeks a Trailer Technician to inspect, diagnose, repair and rebuild trailer equipment. You will perform maintenance, brake service, welding, and troubleshooting to keep fleets on the road.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 3+ years in repairing class 7&8 trailers, and hand tools. CDL is preferred but not required. We provide training, PPE, uniforms, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Welding certificate/degree is a plus but not required
• 3+ years of experience repairing class 7 & 8 trailers
• Carpentry fabrication and welding

Responsibilities

• Examine trailers to determine extent of damage or malfunction(s).
• Diagnoses, repairs, builds and rebuilds all parts of trailer equipment
• Provide customers with preventative maintenance solution when appropriate
• Maintain 80% productivity and prevent comebacks
• Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of trailers and equipment
• Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as lubrications and component replacements
• Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric and brake accessories)
• Test components using proper equipment to ensure proper operations
• Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems including leaf and coil spring systems
• Perform basic aluminum and steel wire welding
• File, grind, sand and smooth filled or repaired surfaces
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace and service truck
• Practice safe driving

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems including leaf and coil spring systems, and Hendrickson walking beam type suspension systems.
• Perform basic aluminum and steel wire welding.
• File, grind, sand and smooth filled or repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace and service truck.
• Practice safe driving.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

• High school diploma or GED
• Vocational and/or Welding certificate/degree is a plus, but not required.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

• 3 + years of experience with repairing class 7 & 8 trailers
• Carpentry fabrication and welding

SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Valid driver’s license with good driving record required.
• Class A CDL is preferred, but not required.
• Must provide hand tools, air tools, and toolbox.
• Maintain perfect safety record
• Ability to lift 50lbs.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Exposure to Inside/Outside Conditions, Extreme Temperatures (average of 100 Degrees F), Humid Conditions, Chemical Hazards, Vibration, Equipment Noise, Work in enclosed and confined spaces.
