Job summary

J.B. Hunt is seeking a Trailer Technician II in Texas to perform intermediate maintenance and repairs on trailers and equipment.

You will troubleshoot issues, complete work orders, and ensure compliance with company and manufacturer specifications, including SRT and warranty guidelines. Ideal candidates have 2+ years of semi-trailer maintenance experience, basic welding skills, and the ability to work outdoors across shifts.

Qualifications

  • Experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair is required or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Possess basic welding skills and ability to read maintenance manuals.
  • Ability to work outdoors and across multiple shifts including nights/weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform intermediate maintenance and repairs on trailers, including fuel systems, batteries, engines, drive trains, and air brake systems.
  • Troubleshoot trailer issues and complete repairs to manufacturer specs and SRT guidelines.
  • Complete work orders and adhere to warranty guidelines.
  • Assist with onboarding and mentorship of trailer technician trainees.
  • Participate in OE training for repairs and ensure shop safety procedures.

Hunt trailers and other equipment. Under routine supervision, you must be able to troubleshoot issues and complete all fleet maintenance to ensure that our equipment meets J.B. Hunt standards at all times.Job Description:Key Responsibilities:Demonstrate proficient knowledge of preventative maintenance and standard repairs related to trailer equipment, including fuel systems, batteries, engines, drive trains, onboard computers, transmissions, air brake systems and FHWA inspectionsTroubleshoot trailer issues and accurately perform intermediate-level repairs to company and manufacturer’s specifications, complete work orders and demonstrate understanding of company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelinesAssist with the onboarding and mentorship of trailer technician traineesParticipate in Original Equipment Manufacture training for OE repairsUnderstand and effectively follow all shop safety proceduresMaintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customersQualifications:Minimum Qualifications:Must be 18 years of age with 2 years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalentAND Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiencesAt least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakesAble to supply your own basic tools, or purchase through our toolbox purchase programWillingness to work outdoors in the elementsAble to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if neededPreferred Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 2+ years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalentBasic welding skills (MIG and stick )Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediumsAbility to manage multiple prioritiesAbility to work both independently and as part of a teamProficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectivelyAbility to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship.Compensation:Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
