Job summary

Ecology Auto Parts Inc. in Long Beach, CA is seeking a skilled Trailer Technician to join our Fleet & Maintenance team. This hands-on role inspects, maintains, and repairs our trailer fleet to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency.

You will diagnose issues, replace worn components, perform preventive services, document work, and collaborate with Road Service and Diesel teams. Requires at least 3 years in trailer maintenance and a high school diploma; DOT knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

Minimum of three years in trailer maintenance or a related mechanical role.
High school diploma or equivalent; diesel or trailer repair certification preferred.
Familiarity with DOT safety regulations and trailer inspection requirements.
Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of air brakes, electrical wiring, and welding.
Ability to diagnose issues and recommend repairs independently.
Effective time management and organizational skills.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States; pass pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

Inspect trailers to identify mechanical and structural issues.
Repair brakes, axles, lighting, suspension, flooring, doors, and air systems.
Perform preventive maintenance per DOT standards.
Replace worn or damaged parts such as wheel hubs, landing gear, lights, and mud flaps.
Maintain accurate service records using maintenance software.
Operate shop tools and diagnostic equipment safely.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
Assist in parts inventory and restocking.
Collaborate with Road Service and Diesel Technician teams as needed.
Weld frames, hangers, landing gears, walls, and floors.
Troubleshoot and repair ABS, electrical shorts.
