Job summary

XPO is seeking a Trailer Apprentice in Romulus, MI to start a learning path toward becoming a Trailer Technician. You’ll assist with trailer inspections, brake work, and routine maintenance while gaining FMCSA-related qualifications.

First shift, pay starts at $23.43/hour. Benefits include health insurance from day one, uniforms, a $400 quarterly tool allowance, PTO, holidays, 401(k) with match, and education assistance. Training and growth are encouraged within the shop.

Qualifications

• A valid driver's license and basic mechanical skills are required.
• Basic computer skills for documenting maintenance and repairs.
• Interest in progressing to a Trailer Technician role.

Responsibilities

• Assist with trailer inspections and brake replacement to gain FMCSA qualifications.
• Complete component replacements and routine maintenance on trailers.
• Work with shop techs to perform minor trailer repairs.
• Enter job times and parts on repair orders to track activities.
• Operate specialized tooling and vehicles as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and report hazards immediately.
• Interact with operations and shop management.
