The JOY FM is seeking a trailer repair technician to perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on trailers. You will handle brakes, suspensions, axles, electrical systems, lighting, and hydraulic components.
Role requires welding, fabrication, and diagnostic work, with emphasis on safety and accurate documentation of parts and repairs, in shop and on-site settings.
Preventative Maintenance & Inspection: Perform routine maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations) and required FHWA inspections to ensure DOT compliance.
Repair Work: Replace or repair brakes, suspensions, axles, electrical systems, lighting, and hydraulic systems.
Structural Repair: Repair roofs, panels, doors, and flooring, including welding and using cutting torches.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose malfunctions using specialized tools or manual examination.
Documentation: Complete work orders and maintain accurate records of repairs and parts.
Experience: 1–3 years in trailer repair, or equivalent technical training/work experience.
Technical Knowledge: Proficiency with welding, fabrication, electrical systems, and air brakes.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy items (50–60 lbs) and work in demanding environments (standing, bending, crouching).
Tools: Must possess own tools for repair work.
License: Valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record often required.
Working Conditions: Work is conducted both inside shop environments and outside, sometimes on-site at customer locations. Technicians often work with heavy equipment and hazardous materials, adhering strictly to safety protocols.
