Job summary

Border International Trucks in El Paso, TX is seeking a Trailer Technician to inspect, diagnose, and repair trailers, ensuring DOT compliance and safe operation of equipment. You will troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems and perform routine maintenance as part of a team focused on quality service.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and mechanical experience; FMCSA qualifications are preferred, with Journeyman status viewed favorably.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years or more of mechanic experience and/or training.
• FMCSA inspector qualifications CFR 396.17.
• Licensed Mechanical Journeyman preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, adjust, and repair trailers with minor problems.
• Ensure equipment is functioning properly and DOT compliant.
• Troubleshoot electrical/mechanical malfunctions on air brakes, switches, lighting circuits, control valves, relief valves, and other items.
• Adjust mechanical items such as doors and slack adjusters.
• Perform light maintenance such as replacing or repairing marker lights, seals, airbags, and mud flaps.
• Repair trailer bodies and related components.
• Minor welding repairs.
• Repair or replace tires, wheel bearings, and seals.
• Change fluids and filters as necessary.
• Replace and adjust brakes for proper function.
• Inspect and clean parts; submit orders if a part must be replaced.
• Confirm proper function of equipment and truck after maintenance.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

• Perform trailer body repairs such as patching of roofs, panels, rail repairs, door sections, floor sections, cross‑member replacement, etc.
• Minor welding repairs.
• Repair or replace tires, wheel bearings, and seals.
• Change fluids and filters as necessary.
• Replace and adjust brakes for proper function.
• Inspect and clean parts; submit orders if a part must be replaced.
• Confirm proper function of equipment and truck after maintenance.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
