Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking a part-time preload/early morning yard switcher to move trailers, load and unload packages, and assist with sorting at the unloading/loading doors. The role requires attention to safety, basic reading of numbers, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include coordinating trailer movements, inspecting equipment, and using hand-held scanners or dock carts as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) file.
• Ability to understand and follow safety instructions and procedures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers between yard and doors and between doors and yard.
• Coordinate trailer movements with management or central control.
• Document trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on equipment.
• Assist with package handling, loading and unloading from vehicles and conveyors.
• Sort packages based on labels and charts; operate within safety requirements.
